Year End

I started the year end leave since last Monday.

For seven days straight, I did nothing but netflix and eat. And, I mean serious eating, because I can't remember the last time I had three full meals in a day after I turn 30. And on some afternoons, I had two servings of whatever the main was - two unagi don, two kimchi spicy ramen, two soon tofu stew, two of everything ...

No spinning, no work, no tech, no reading, no analyzing - just Netflix, eating and the occasional screaming nephew.

Giving in to food coma in the middle of the day --- priceless

This is like some sort of refresh or recharge - almost like a cleansing ritual. Although, the irony of all this is that I've gained a whopping 8kg in just a week. I'm an Mesomorph - I gain and lose easy, which is also the reason why I've been extremely cautious ever since I turned 30.

Anyway, yesterday marks the last day of the ritual. After a tonkonsu spicy ramen and a three-eggs dry udon - I've decide to walk to Nex to better digest dinner but also to end this expansion ritual with a tiramisu crepe cake and some ice cream to calm the nephew down (he's always here on mondays).

On the way walking back - I've decided that I need to be much more organized in my life.

When you aged and time is scarce, you tend to want to control as much as possible so that none of it is wasted. And logically, to better control and manage, I would need to consciously categorize different aspects of my life and think through what I would like to do with each of them.

I realised if I discipline myself to reason and formulate arguments towards a decision, instead of operating base on feelings for these things - there would be a greater chance of the decision being rational and less susceptible to influence of external events or people. The only work left then, once decided, would be to implement and commit to it.

So thats in progress.

And while that happens, I went back to spinning today. The energy is awesome and there is so much consistency in the routine.

Rythmic cycling dictates that everyone in the studio cycles at the same speed for each track. The instructor would demonstrate a choreography that is complex enough to engage mentally because you would have to memorize and then coodinate the upper and lower body to perform the exact same routine, be conscious of mirror left and right movements and also maintain a cycling speed that corresponds to the rythm of the track. And because the pace is consistent, you can train yourself to breathe in at intervals of the rythm.

This is extremely important and its very often underestimated because people are always drawn to the most shining thing, which in this case is performing the routine correctly. But without consistent supply of oxygen - body derives energy anaerobically which eventually leads to muscle fatigue.

Of course, apart of consistency, looking really hot, like most people in the class, is also a major perk of a spinning class.

That is, for now, with a vivd imagination.
